Heritage Day 2018
On the 4th August 2018, the inaugural Rock the Pier music festival day kicked off.
The then chairman of HPHA, Peter King had an idea.. ‘how would it be if we held a small music festival next to the pier?’. On a sunny summer day in 2018 the idea became reality, a stage was constructed next to the pier ticket office, a roster of local performers agreed to give their time for free and a team of volunteers were recruited to run the event. A small crowd gathered and Rock the pier was underway.
Solo performer Sophie Penwill got the day of to a gentle start to be followed by some classic rock from the Dodgy Jammers. Steve+Steve were on next and the crowd swelled to welcome the Trav Cats. Up and coming band Pioneers kept things rocking, with Jarmin and Wire JD playing the afternoon slots to bring the first Rock the Pier to a close.
The event was a great success in raising the profile of HPHA in Hythe and raising funds from the generous donations from the enthusiastic crowd.
